Ten days before the decisive match, the organization confirmed that Justin Bieber will be one of the main artists of the halftime show to be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at the MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey (United States), where the new world champion will be crowned. The Canadian singer, who returned to the stage this year, joins a lineup that already featured Madonna, Shakira (who performs the World Cup official song), and the K-Pop group BTS as central figures.
Inspired by the Super Bowl format of the American NFL, the halftime show is a musical presentation that takes place during the break of a sporting event. This performance, lasting only 11 minutes, will mark a milestone for the competition, as it will be the first time a World Cup final features a show of this kind. The break will last longer than the usual 15 minutes to allow the presentation.
The production will be handled by the Global Citizen platform, while Chris Martin, Coldplay's frontman, was in charge of curating the artistic proposal. In addition to the four big names, Nigerian singer Burna Boy, Venezuelan orchestra conductor Gustavo Dudamel, and the PS22 Chorus (the renowned choir made up of fourth and fifth-grade students from a Staten Island elementary school) will also perform alongside Coldplay. As part of the show, Kermit, Miss Piggy, and other Muppets characters will also appear to reinforce the educational message.
The goal of the show is to raise funds for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative that aims to raise $100 million to expand access to education and football for children worldwide. Currently, around 350 million children and adolescents worldwide are out of the school system.
The FIFA World Cup unites the world like nothing else. I am grateful to be part of this halftime show, and even more grateful to know that it is already helping to expand access to education for children around the world.
When it comes to what the world needs, there is nothing more important than education. We are proud that Justin Bieber is joining Madonna, Shakira, and BTS to headline this show in support of the educational fund.
