Post-Match Tension: Journalist's Incident Following Argentina's World Cup Victory

A Tense Moment After Advancing to the Semifinals

July 11, 2026 was a historic day for Argentine fans after their national team's thrilling 3-1 victory over Switzerland in extra time, securing a spot in the World Cup semifinals. However, a tense incident allegedly occurred outside the stadium in Kansas City involving an Argentine entertainment journalist and security personnel.

The Journalist's Account

According to reports from the Argentine TV show Infama on América TV, journalist Martín Salwe was standing on a public street near a VIP exit of the stadium, an area that did not require special press credentials. His intention was simply to ask for a quick greeting for the fans from Tini Stoessel, a renowned Argentine pop star and the partner of national team midfielder Rodrigo De Paul.

Salwe reported that due to the loud environment, the singer did not hear the request and quickly got into a pickup truck. At that moment, two security agents allegedly shoved him and his cameroman. They grabbed my chest and dug their nails in. I still have the marks, Salwe explained, showing his minor scratches. He noted that approaching other public figures, such as Antonela Roccuzzo (Lionel Messi's wife), had been entirely peaceful, making this specific encounter feel unusually aggressive.

The Singer's Family Responds

When asked about the situation, Tini Stoessel's parents provided a reassuring perspective. Her mother, Mariana Muzlera, clarified that the artist does not usually use private security in the United States, except during her own concerts. She deduced that the individuals involved were likely undercover police or FIFA stadium staff. Her father, Alejandro Stoessel, agreed with this assessment. TV host Marcela Tauro suggested they might be bodyguards assigned by the Argentine Football Association (AFA) or FIFA to protect the players' families.
