According to the local news portal El Cuyo Digital, on Monday, July 20, 2026, the General Directorate of Schools (DGE) of Mendoza decided to suspend morning in-person classes in several localities across the province.

The suspension is a preventive measure driven by meteorological reports confirming intense snowfall and rain, which have made access roads to educational institutions impassable. This action follows recommendations from the local Civil Defense to ensure the safety of students and teachers.
Note for travelers: Uspallata and Puente del Inca are key locations along the international route connecting Argentina and Chile through the Andes. Puente del Inca is also a famous natural landmark featuring a stunning rock bridge formed by thermal waters.
School activities in the affected areas will take place virtually through the provincial educational platform, Escuela Digital Mendoza, proving that technology allows academic progress despite harsh weather.
The DGE confirmed that educational services across the rest of Mendoza's territory are operating normally at all levels: early childhood, primary, and secondary education.
This preventive operation occurs within the framework of complex regional weather. On July 19, 2026, a snowstorm in Mendoza's high mountains had trapped 23 individuals, who were promptly rescued by emergency teams. Authorities remain vigilant regarding the possibility of further snowfall in the Andean region.
