According to local media reports, on July 15, 2026, Luciana Daniela Ojeda, aged 36, was found lifeless in her apartment located at 600 Ituzaingó Street, in the Nueva Córdoba neighborhood. Nueva Córdoba is a vibrant, modern residential area popular among students and young professionals in the city of Córdoba, Argentina. While the initial discovery caused great shock, the swift action of the justice system brings hope that this tragic event will not go unpunished.
Authorities identified Jan Lu Korzeniecki, a 45-year-old Polish citizen, as the main and only suspect charged with aggravated homicide due to the relationship in a context of gender violence. Reports indicate that Korzeniecki had arrived in Córdoba on July 6, 2026, to live with the victim, whom he had met through social media. Following his disappearance from the scene, Prosecutor Gonzalo Berrotarán Romano requested a national and international arrest warrant, which has been communicated to Interpol.
Preliminary autopsy results determined that the victim died from cardiogenic shock caused by a severe blow to the chest area. The case, initially treated as a death of doubtful etiology, was reclassified as a femicide thanks to the gathering of evidence by the 5th Shift Gender and Family Violence Prosecutor's Office. In Argentina, 'femicide' (femicidio) is a specific legal term used when a woman is murdered because of her gender, often by a current or former partner, carrying harsher penalties to combat gender-based violence.
Amidst this painful situation, Luciana's family remains united in seeking to clarify the facts. Her 5-year-old daughter, who was in the apartment at the time of the discovery, is now under the custody and protection of her maternal family. Relatives such as Luciano and Claudia provided key testimonies regarding previous episodes of violence by the suspect, actively collaborating with the justice system to expedite the process.
“We want justice, he cannot continue walking around with impunity,” expressed Luciano, the victim's brother, demonstrating the family's determination.
