The fatal accident occurred in Martínez, San Isidro—an affluent residential area in the northern suburbs of Buenos Aires, Argentina's capital city. Her black Honda Civic was struck by a Tren de la Costa (Coastal Train) convoy at the railroad crossing where Sáenz Peña and El Cano streets intersect.

What Happened

According to police and judicial sources, the incident took place between 7:20 PM and 7:25 PM. Preliminary investigations indicate that the railroad crossing barrier was down at the time of impact. It remains unclear whether a mechanical failure, human error, or another factor caused the vehicle to enter the crossing.

A witness named Carlos attempted to rescue Pais immediately after the collision but was unable to open the car doors, which had been jammed by the impact. The official cause of death was a severe traumatic brain injury.

The Prosecutor's Office of Martínez (UFI) is leading the investigation and awaiting autopsy results and technical reports.
