The Argentine automotive market closes the first semester of 2026 with mixed numbers. According to data from the Association of Automotive Dealers of the Argentine Republic (ACARA), 294,181 vehicles were registered between January and June, representing a decline of 9.9% compared to the same period in 2025, when 326,549 units were recorded.
"The first part of the year was marked by an excess of units and doubts in demand, but manufacturers and dealers are adjusting. June figures already show recovery compared to May", stated Sebastián Beato, president of ACARA.
Dealers expect that lower interest rates and long-term financing plans will drive a more dynamic second semester.

The Toyota Hilux maintains absolute leadership as Argentina's best-selling pickup for over 20 years, consolidating solid monthly performance with 3,002 units in June.
The Fiat Cronos is crowned as the most chosen passenger car by Argentines, holding second place in the overall ranking with 1,900 units registered.
A structural change in the market: imported vehicle registrations reached 69% of the total, while nationally produced units represented only 31%. This data reflects the transformation of the Argentine automotive market in the first half of the year.
Of the 10 best-selling models in June, 6 are manufactured in Argentina: Toyota Hilux, Fiat Cronos, Ford Ranger, Volkswagen Amarok, Peugeot 208, and Chevrolet Onix. The semester's leading brands continue to be Toyota, Volkswagen, and Fiat, while BYD marks a milestone by entering the top 10 brands.
