Russia Launches Massive Attack on Kiev Hours Before NATO Summit

06/07/2026 15:57 - Internacionales

A New Dawn of Sorrow in Kiev

In the early hours of Monday, July 6, 2026, the Ukrainian capital suffered a new Russian aggression that claimed the lives of 14 people and left 46 injured, including five children. According to the city's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, the attack caused damage in three districts and set fire to four residential buildings where citizens were sleeping.

The Attack's Arsenal

The Ukrainian Air Force detailed that the Moscow regime deployed 68 missiles (23 of them ballistic) and 351 long-range drones. Although defenses managed to shoot down 37 missiles and 326 drones, no ballistic missiles could be neutralized due to a shortage of PAC-3 interceptors for the Patriot systems.

Response and Context Ahead of NATO

This bombardment occurs just hours before the annual NATO summit in Turkey. President Volodymyr Zelensky had warned about this attack, which adds to another one last Thursday that left 30 dead. Simultaneously, Ukraine attacked a refinery in Yaroslavl (Russia) and left Sevastopol, in Crimea, without electricity.

Europe Shifts Its Perspective on the Conflict

According to analysis by international media such as El Dia and Deutsche Welle, the development of the conflict in 2026 marks a turning point. European governments perceive that time no longer favors the Kremlin, showing growing economic and military wear in Russia.

In this context, and facing diminished support from the United States following Donald Trump's return, Europe has approved a 90 billion euro aid package. Two-thirds of these funds will go to weaponry and the rest to the Ukrainian administration, consolidating a strategy of total backing for Kiev.
