Argentine actress Mery del Cerro, known internationally for her role in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (the Argentine stage adaptation), decided to open her heart during an interview with host Mario Pergolini, one of Argentina's most respected television personalities. She revealed two private health struggles she kept secret throughout 2025. With touching honesty, she shared that she first suffered a pregnancy loss and, shortly after, was diagnosed with an abdominal tumor that required emergency surgery.
"I didn't tell anyone, I lost a pregnancy last year. And then the tumor: the specialists told me they had never seen anything like it," the actress confessed, visibly emotional. The moment, charged with vulnerability, had a profound impact on the host and viewers alike.
The first difficult moment came in Uruguay, where Mery was working. There she learned that her pregnancy had not progressed. "It was the first time this happened to me. I didn't tell anyone, I was very hurt," she recounted. During this ordeal, the support of her partner, Meme Bouquet, and her close friend, Isabel Macedo (a well-known Argentine actress), was fundamental.
Shortly after overcoming that loss, Mery began feeling unwell, which led her to undergo medical tests. An ultrasound revealed "something in the abdomen." She was hospitalized and surrounded by doctors who informed her: "You have a highly vascularized tumor." The next day, she underwent surgery. "They had never operated on me, never put me under, never anything," she admitted, highlighting that this was her first such experience.
The surgery was successful: the tumor was encapsulated and removed at just the right moment. However, she had to wait 40 agonizing days for the definitive results. When the phone finally rang, the doctors gave her reassuring news—but emphasized how unusual the case was.
"We want to tell you that yours is an extremely rare case—rarer than a green dog,"
On the verge of tears, Mery reflected on the experience: "It was very hard, very difficult. I feel like life gave me another chance." Her testimony is a powerful reminder of the importance of health and the strength found in sharing our most personal struggles.
