Market Analysis: Understanding Argentine Preferences

Pick-ups: The Segment That Never Fails

Pick-up trucks remain the dominant force in the Argentine market. Unlike other countries where sedans or compact cars lead, Argentina has a strong culture of pick-up trucks due to their versatility for both urban use and agricultural work. Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger lead the segment, both manufactured locally at plants in Zárate (Toyota) and General Pacheco (Ford), in the province of Buenos Aires.

SUVs: The Growing Trend

The Ford Territory consolidated itself as the best-selling SUV with 10,592 units in the semester, followed by Chevrolet Tracker and Toyota Yaris Cross. This segment represents one of the strongest trends in the current market, as Argentine consumers shift from traditional sedans to higher-riding vehicles.

The BYD Phenomenon: Electric Revolution Arrives

Chinese electric vehicle brand BYD entered the top 10 brands for the first time, marking a significant milestone in the transformation of the Argentine market toward electric mobility. This reflects a global trend toward electrification.

Outlook for the Second Half of 2026

Sebastián Beato, president of ACARA, indicated that "signs of recovery" are being observed for the second half of 2026, with expectations of greater dynamism in the Argentine automotive market. The industry remains hopeful despite year-over-year declines.
