San Luis Mourns: Provincial Deputy Luciana Perano Passes Away at 46

An Unexpected Farewell in La Pampa

The political landscape of the Argentine province of San Luis is grieving. On Sunday, July 5, 2026, provincial deputy Luciana Perano passed away suddenly at the age of 46. The tragic event occurred early in the morning at her home in Parera, a town in the neighboring province of La Pampa where she was born. At the time, she was preparing to travel back to San Luis to attend the wake of her great friend and political colleague, deputy Ingrid Blumencweig.

It was her husband, provincial senator Martín Olivero, who found her unresponsive at their home. Everything indicates that the legislator suffered a sudden, fatal heart attack. The news fell like a cold bucket of water at the provincial Legislature building, where Blumencweig's body was simultaneously being mourned.

A Legacy of Dedication and Family

Perano leaves an indelible mark on the Pueyrredón department of San Luis. Beyond her political career, she was the proud mother of five children. Her time in public service was characterized by her close connection with the people. She assumed her seat in the San Luis Chamber of Deputies in December 2021, after serving as a councilwoman in the City of La Punta, a planned community in San Luis where she chose to build her life.

From her legislative platform, she was the main driving force behind the recognition of El Suyuque as an official municipality. Furthermore, her administration was strongly marked by her efforts to improve public transportation, especially to La Punta. There, she shared a legislative bloc with the current mayor, Luciano Ayala.

Reactions from Colleagues

The mayor of La Punta, Luciano Ayala, who is also a native of Parera, was among the first to express his sorrow publicly. “I am in immense pain,” wrote the mayor, who immediately traveled to La Pampa to accompany the return of his colleague and friend's body to San Luis.

Perano's last public message had been, precisely, an emotional farewell to Blumencweig, with whom she maintained a very close relationship. The political and friendship duo formed by both legislators will be fondly remembered by the people of San Luis.
