A Tragic Twist in the Pérez Algaba Case

The investigation into the murder of businessman Fernando 'Lechuga' Pérez Algaba is once again in the spotlight following the death of Ariana Yael González, aged 36, who was one of the most important witnesses in the trial.

The Discovery

The discovery occurred in an apartment located at Brandsen 3500, Lomas del Mirador, a neighborhood in the Greater Buenos Aires area. Although authorities could not revive her, an investigation is now open and led by prosecutor Adrián Arribas.

The main hypothesis points to suicide, but the investigation does not rule out other possibilities, such as instigation or the involvement of third parties. Justice seeks to clarify the facts to provide certainty and peace to those involved.

Her Role in the Trial

González had a central role in the case: she lived in the house where the businessman was murdered and was the partner of Maximiliano Pilepich, one of the three defendants who, on July 6, 2026, was unanimously sentenced to life imprisonment by a popular jury at the Oral Criminal Court No. 9 of Lomas de Zamora.

During her testimony, González described Pilepich as manipulative, narcissistic, and sick, providing key details about their relationship and the scene of the crime. She also mentioned the other two convicts: Nahuel Vargas and Matías Gil.

Context: The Main Case

The murder of Fernando Pérez Algaba, which occurred more than three years ago (in 2023), shocked Argentine society when his remains were found dismembered inside suitcases thrown into a stream in Ingeniero Budge, a locality in the southern part of Greater Buenos Aires.

With the three main defendants already convicted, the case continues its course and still has other defendants, including facilitator Flavia Bomrad, Police Commissioner Horacio Córdoba, Fernando Gastón Carrizo, and Luis Contreras. They will be tried in an ordinary trial awaiting a start date.
