Exchange Rate Update: July 20, 2026

As reported by La Nacion, Argentina's foreign exchange market showed a dynamic behavior this Monday. The official dollar closed stable at $1,500 ARS for sale and $1,450 ARS for purchase at the state-owned Banco Nacion. Meanwhile, the wholesale dollar rose for the fourth consecutive session, advancing $3 ARS to $1,481 ARS.

For foreigners visiting or sending money, the blue dollar—the informal parallel exchange rate highly sought after by tourists to get better rates—rose $10 ARS, reaching $1,540 ARS for sale, its highest value in nine months. The purchase price was $1,493.80 ARS.

Financial and Card Dollars

In Argentina, there are also financial exchange rates known as MEP and CCL, obtained through buying and selling government bonds. These are key indicators for local and international investors:

  • MEP Dollar: $1,512.26 ARS
  • CCL Dollar: $1,566.96 ARS
  • Card Dollar (Official + taxes): $1,950 ARS
  • Crypto Dollar (USDT): $1,550.57 ARS

Economic Indicators

The country risk index, measured by JP Morgan to assess the likelihood of a nation defaulting on its debt, stood at 415 basis points. In a context of optimism, Moody's is expected to upgrade the country's credit rating to 'B3', potentially driving the country risk below 400 points.

June Inflation

The National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC) reported that June inflation was 1.9%, with a cumulative rate of 16.8% for the first half of the year.

A Promising Outlook

Despite market fluctuations, analysts project a second half of the year driven by the government's renewed economic agenda. The stability of the official dollar and the projected improvement in risk ratings herald a promising financial horizon for the coming months.
